Special Screening of «El día que me quieras: El viaje de Gardel»
Today, Friday, October 3 at 8 p.m., in Screen 3 of Cinépolis Plaza Houssay, the animated short film El día que me quieras: El viaje de Gardel, directed by Matías Mera and created with generative artificial intelligence, will premiere.

Marking 90 years since the death of the iconic tango singer in Medellín, the film pays tribute to one of the most influential Argentine artists of the 20th century through a visual proposal that blends animation and digital aesthetics. The project, directed by Matías Mera and the first animated film produced by the University of Buenos Aires, uses artificial intelligence to recreate emblematic scenes from the artist’s life.
The short traces Gardel’s journey from his humble beginnings to his international acclaim, portraying how he created the tango canción, starred in more than a dozen films, and recorded some of the first music videos in history. The work highlights his performances at venues such as the Paris Opera and New York studios.
The use of artificial intelligence in the creative process opens up new possibilities for preserving and reinterpreting cultural figures, bringing Gardel’s legacy closer to younger generations.
