It all begins with the discovery of a cassette recorded 25 years ago. Director Valentina Riedel finds a tape of a song composed by her father’s friend to celebrate her birth. This discovery prompts her to explore the life of that man, “the Pole” -musician, rugby coach- who died a decade ago. Thus begins a retrospective journey of healing and reconnection, in an intimate documentary nourished by interviews, family archives, and the filmmaker’s own testimony. Beyond the preservation of memory, the aim is to understand what remains of a person after their passing. To know “who he was, beyond how I knew him as a father,” says the woman for whom the song was written.
