Historias del buen valle
Good Valley Stories
International Feature Film Competition
Vallbona is a peripheral neighborhood of Barcelona, virtually isolated by a river, railway lines, and highways. For three years, it became the subject of study for the new documentary by the notable Catalan filmmaker who made his international breakthrough with Work in Progress (2001) and has since built a reputation as one of the most relevant contemporary European auteurs. These stories capture the essence of a community marked by transformation and the coexistence of different waves of migration. With non-professional actors and the poetic-naturalist tone that distinguishes his work, Guerín composes a portrait of a neighborhood turned into a “global village” of the 21st century.

José Luis Guerin
José Luis Guerin, as a director and screenwriter, has combined fiction and documentary, blurring the boundaries between the two genres. He has presented his film in festivals such as Venice, Cannes, Berlin and San Sebastián, among many others. He had retrospectives at festivals and major cultural centers such as the Centre Georges Pompidou and the Harvard Film Institute.
