The Returned
Laura Casabé Focus
South America, 1919. The Guaraní people had either died, deserted, or been reduced to servitude. Julia, the wife of a landowner, gives birth to her third stillborn child. Desperate, she begs Kerana, her Guaraní servant, to bring him back to life. The child returns. But he does not return alone.
Laura Casabé
Laura Casabé is a director, screenwriter, and cinematographer. Trained at UBA and specialized in screenwriting at the New York Film Academy (NYFA). A specialist in genre cinema, she directed the features The Good Fairy (2010), Benavídez’s Suitcase (2016), The Returned (awarded at Mar del Plata, Sitges, and Macabro), Family Album (2024), and The Virgin of the Quarry Lake (2025).
