International Feature Film Competition
Prolific Tunisian writer and filmmaker Lotfi Achour revisits the horror of the murder of a teenager who was beheaded by the local branch of the Islamic State. And all because he made the mistake of climbing a mountain with his flock of goats in search of water for the animals. The case shocked the country and unleashed a long media, judicial, and political saga that the film portrays, along with the emotional impact on the survivors, media pressure, and the difficulty of processing trauma in a nation divided by religious fundamentalism. At the same time, it stands as a powerful political statement on the abandonment and isolation of a rural community in the face of terrorism.
