Mirtha Legrand, Guest Star
During its second edition, FIC.UBA will pay tribute to the iconic figure of Argentine cinema's golden era, actress and hostess Mirtha Legrand. She played a pivotal role in Argentine cultural history and was a favourite star of prominent directors in Argentine industrial cinema, including Mugica, Amadori, Christensen, Saslavsky, Klimovsky, Schlieper, Demare, and Tinayre.
Born in Villa Cañas, Santa Fe province, Legrand made her debut alongside her sister Goldy as an extra in Hay que educar a Niní. Her breakthrough came at just 14 years old in Francisco Mugica's Los martes, orquídeas, where she became an icon of romantic comedies, known for her exceptional acting talent and magnetic presence on screen.
Over nearly three decades collaborating with industry giants, she starred in 36 feature films, including Safo, historia de una pasión, La pequeña señora de Pérez, El retrato, La patota, and La cigarra no es un bicho, among others.
From her early days on the silver screen to her record-breaking popularity as a hostess, Legrand's life and career are synonymous with Argentine cinema. Her contributions are set to receive special recognition at FIC.UBA, alongside a tribute to director Daniel Tinayre, her husband and creative partner, thirty years after his passing.
