Asif Kapadia to be honoured at FIC.UBA
The acclaimed British filmmaker, winner of the Oscar for his documentary Amy, will be honoured at the third edition of the UBA International Film Festival (FIC.UBA).

As part of the event, Kapadia will present his latest work 2073 for the first time in Argentina — an innovative project that blends science fiction and documentary to depict a dystopian future shaped by authoritarianism and environmental crisis.
Born in London in 1972 to an Indian British family, Kapadia has built a distinctive body of work through his exclusive use of archival footage. His films Senna (2010), Amy (2015), and Diego Maradona (2019) earned him international acclaim, including Academy Awards, BAFTA Awards, and Grammys. In 2073 — premiered out of competition at the 81st Venice Film Festival — he envisions a world where democracy has been dismantled by populism, mass surveillance, and ecological collapse. Starring Samantha Morton, the film intertwines documentary material with fiction to offer a critical perspective on today’s global challenges and what may lie ahead.
Taking place from October 1 to 8, FIC.UBA is solidifying its position as a space for reflecting on cinema from both cultural and political perspectives. With free and open admission, the Festival reaffirms its commitment to diversity, critical thinking, and the strengthening of a distinct audiovisual identity.
