Horror under the open sky at FIC.UBA

Acclaimed director and screenwriter of fantasy and horror films, Demián Rugna will be one of the special guests at FIC.UBA, where he will present the new section Horror under the open sky. This open-air retrospective will include his four feature films: Cursed Bastards! (2013, co-directed with Fabián Forte), You Don’t Know Who You’re Talking To (2016), Terrified (2017), and When Evil Lurks (2023), the highest-grossing horror film in Argentina’s history.

Screenings will take place at the School of Architecture, Design and Urbanism and will also include short horror films created by FADU students. In addition, the Festival will present Rugna with a special award for his outstanding work.

Rugna studied cartoon drawing and graduated as an audiovisual designer from the University of Morón. He directed many short films until 2007, when he released his first feature film, The Last Gateway. In addition to the four films featured in this section, Rugna collaborated with Guillermo Del Toro on the remake of Terrified and participated in Satanic Hispanics, an anthology of horror stories by Latin American directors. Rugna’s film When Evil Lurks won in 2023 the Best Feature Film Award at the prestigious Sitges Film Festival.
