Amantes en el cielo explores the stories of Cristina and La Bonita, two trans cooks who have worked for decades on the cargo ships that tirelessly sail the rivers of the Peruvian Amazon. Facing personal and societal pressures, the pair are navigating evolving identities: Cristina, to fulfill a promise made to her dead mother and La Bonita, for fear of burning forever in hell.
Fermín de la Serna
Fermín de la Serna is a director and writer. He directed the shorts La entrevista and El placer and founded the magazine La Brújula. In 2026, he published the novel Cristina Rebelde del Perú. Amantes en el cielo, his documentary feature debut, premiered in Kraków with the support of the World Cinema Fund – Berlinale.
