An Autumn Afternoon
Yasujiro Ozu Focus
Shuhei Hirayama, a middle-aged widower, lives a quiet and orderly life with his daughter Michiko, who has devoted herself to taking care of the household since her mother’s death. When an encounter with a former schoolteacher prompts him to reflect on his daughter’s future, Shuhei begins to question whether his quiet reliance on her presence has prevented her from pursuing a life of her own. As Michiko struggles to reconcile familial duty with her personal aspirations, father and daughter are gradually forced to confront the inevitable changes brought about by the passage of time. Through gatherings with old friends, shared memories, and the quiet rituals of everyday life, both embark on a deeply personal journey toward acceptance and understanding.
