The Flavor of Green Tea over Rice
Yasujiro Ozu Focus
Mokichi Satake and his wife Taeko have been married for several years, their marriage having been arranged through a miai, the traditional meeting between prospective spouses. Without children and enjoying a comfortable life, Taeko spends much of her time in the company of friends, while the couple maintains an outwardly stable and orderly existence. Their niece Setsuko, however, rejects the idea of an arranged marriage and insists on choosing her own path. When her family attempts to arrange a miai for her, she refuses the arrangement and seeks refuge with her uncle Mokichi. This unexpected encounter leads the couple to confront the differences that have quietly shaped their relationship.
