Audiovisual Design Graduates Feature Film Competition
Marcos is in prison. His most prized possession there is a mobile phone. With it, he records and sends videos to Toia. Together, they make this film. Through this clandestine exchange, Plata o mierda tells the story of Marcos’s life in prison and the particular relationship he builds with Toia. This is the story of someone who lets images escape in order not to be defeated by confinement.
Toia Bonino
Toia Bonino holds degrees in Visual Arts and Psychology. She directed the feature films Orione (2017), La sangre en el ojo (2020) and L'addio (2024), which received awards at BAFICI, IDFA, Mar del Plata, and Ji.hlava.
Marcos Joubert
Marcos Joubert is the director and protagonist of Plata o mierda. Since 2017, he has documented life in prison with Toia Bonino. He received awards at the Mar del Plata International Film Festival for the short film Engomado and the Plata o mierda project, as well as a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
