Todo es cárcel
Letters from an Inner Exile
International Feature Film Competition
A Berlin-based artist travels through Spain in search of locations for a future documentary about Francoist concentration camps. The death of an uncle brings her back to the family property, where her research becomes entangled. Meanwhile, the tragic story of Carmen and Ángel, lovers separated by the defeat of 1939 and imprisoned in the victors’ camps, unfolds through a series of prison letters that combine violence, survival, and a lucid reflection on defeat. From this starting point, Eloy Enciso turns to fiction to address the question of collective amnesia. Rather than portraying the camps themselves, he explores the void they left behind, the disappearance of their traces from the landscape, and the indifference of a national consciousness that resists telling its own tragic history.
